AWS | IPsense – Portal Nova

Portalnova is a company of Pernambuco origin that works together with Banco BMG in the payroll and personal credit, cards and insurance market.

It has more than 40 stores operating in the states of Pernambuco, Salvador and São Paulo.

In a highly competitive market such as finance, immediate and reliable access to data is of fundamental importance.

There are dozens of data sources that are updated daily and Portal Nova did all the data analysis and reporting through manual processes based on extremely complex excel spreadsheets.

The entire process consumed a great deal of operational effort to consolidate information and carry out analyses, which ended up being outdated and did not meet business demands.

The first step was to build a data lake, concentrating all the information in a single place and processing the spreadsheets by applying transformations to deduplicate, consolidate the data and convert to data structures ready to be consumed through queries using SQL with Amazon Athena and PowerBI .

PowerBI access to Amazon Athena was performed through a secure gateway, providing controlled and monitored access for Portal Nova analysts.

With the new cloud analytics solution, managers now have almost real-time processed data on the performance of each store, consolidated customer profile, agent performance analysis and daily revenue projections, all through connected graphical dashboards directly with the data lake.
